When auditing your website, you want to make sure your website is accessible at just one domain – preferably one of the https (secure) versions.
Visitors shouldn’t be able to access your website at multiple locations (URLs). It can lead to crawling, indexing, and security issues as Google sees those as multiple sites.
You can either manually check that each of these variations of your URL resolve to just one of the four (ideally one of the HTTPS versions).
- http://yourdomain.com
- http://www.yourdomain.com
- https://yourdomain.com
- https://www.yourdomain.com
An even easier method is to test your domain here:
Enter your domain and make sure that 3 of the 4 redirect (301) to the 4th one, which should be one of the HTTPS versions above. If not, these redirects will need to be created.
